This is software that would help reduce polygons on a given 3D model. That eases use of the model whenever real-time rendering is required.
VizUp is designed for game developers, architects, and 3D designers. It reduces number of polygons used in 3D models, so that wherever required, real-time rendering becomes possible. It is essential that the look and feel of the model is maintained. This program does reductions to various levels and lets you decide the version you like best and likely to be useful at the same time. The end result of the reduction is a 3D model with a well-balanced level of details and size, which is usable in virtual reality and real-time visualization. Formats supported include Wavefront .OBJ, VRML 2.0/97 and StereoLitho (STL). If you were in a hurry or are starting out familiarizing yourself with the program, there is a "fast reduction" mode. The program will give you, what it thinks, is the best optimization results.
Learning time with the program is minimal, the simple interface makes it easy too. It has a large 3D viewer window in the center and a toolbar with the commands and options. The program has a built in model that will help learn reduction of polygons easily.Once the reduced model is ready you are able to move the model around and see how the model is likely to look in a virtual reality or a game situation. Simple mouse movements will let you do this. Additionally you could also pan and zoom the model. If you have started out learning use of 3D models in one of the areas mentioned, then this is a good tool to do so.
